Mandala Making Workshop
Traditions Festival at King Manor Museum
A mandala is a complex circular abstract design which dates back to the 4th century BC, popularized from the Buddhist tradition where they were used for intense meditation, reflection, and mental wellness. They are still used today in many mediums and holds symbolic meaning in various faiths including Islam, Hinduism, Christianity and more.
Mandalas generally have an identifiable center point, from which emanates an array of symbols, shapes and forms. They can contain both geometric and organic forms. They can also contain recognizable images or colors that carry meaning for the person who is creating it. In essence, mandalas represent the connection between our inner worlds and our outer most reality. Designing your own mandalas can be both inspirational and therapeutic.
